Nature Conservancy of Texas Features Writing From My Life Outdoors
A week or so ago The Nature Conservancy of Texas asked if I would be willing to write a freelance piece about their Annual Christmas Tree Hunt. My Fmaily and I have always wanted to participate in such a tradition. So we headed down to the Davis Mountain Preserve to hunt for the perfect Christmas Tree. You can read about our trip on TNC’s website Nature.org/Texas

Steven,
Great write up. We hunted a Christmas tree this year as well. We ended up with a small cedar right after Thanksgiving. We've learned our lesson though as that was entirely too early to get a tree. We've since had to get a small Frazier Fir as the Cedar was no longer drinking water and was leaning too much for our liking. In all honesty, we were worried about it being a fire hazard.
Again, great feature. I've shared it on my Facebook as well. Indeed a wonderful tradition, one we hope to enjoy year after year. It definitely makes Christmas more authentic.
Merry Christmas,
Tim

I bet that Cedar smelled good while you had it. Thanks for sharing the posts on facebook. I will say again…I have been really enjoying Appalachia And Beyond.
