Thank You for Your Votes! – I Won!

It has been a long contest to say the least. Back in January I signed up to become an offical Agion Active T-tester. The assignment? Go out and stink it up as much as you can. I was given a t-shirt that had one half treated with Agion Active anit-stink technology. The other half was just a plain t-shirt. I took the t-shirt to Enchanted Rock in the Texas hill country and hiked and climbed all day long. By the end of the day…the treated side of the Agion Active shirt hardly had a smell at all. I was impressed. But that was just the beginning.

I test my Agion Active Shirt at Enchanted Rock, Texas

As part of the promotion of this new technology all Agion Active T-testers were entered into a contest to win a vacation to Glacier National Park through Glacier Guides. The winner would be the person with most votes on December 31st 2010.

I started out asking everyone I new to vote for me. I got up to 90 votes just in time for another contestant to fly past me with 3000+ votes. I gave up. Months later (out of the blue) I revisited the site and noticed the lead contestant had been deducted thousands of votes. I was only 100 something votes form the lead. I was back in the game and asked anyone and everyone to vote for me. In the following weeks I received somewhere close to 1000 votes…only to have 700 something taken away. I knew I could still win this thing. I continued to prompt my friends in social media to vote for me….verging on being annoying. On the final day of the contest I was driving to Colorado checking the voting every chance I got. At the close of the contest I was in the lead….but I couldn’t help think…how many of these would be taken away? Why were they being taken away? How many times was someone legally allowed to vote?

The contest rules stated the winner would be notified within a week of the close of contest. A week went by and no word. I e-mailed the guys at Agion Active and asked when the winner would be announced? I was told each vote was being inspected to make sure there was no repeat votes. I waited patiently.

Yesterday I received an e-mail congratulating me on receiving the most votes. I WON!

Thanks in part to you. I know many of you went to vote. Many of you asked friends to vote, posted things on your blogs, and retweeted my posts among other things. I want to say thank you. I have never won anything more then a cheap door prize! For me…this is like winning the lottery.

Thank you again for all your support. I owe you one!

    Hey Steven,

Congratulations on winning such a major award. Really that is pretty awesome. Hope you have a blast in Glacier. I'm hoping that one day I'll make it back there again. I don't think I fully understood or appreciated it the first and only time I was there when I was 18 but I digress.

Again, congrats and I can't wait for the post on the trip.

Congratulations, I hear Glacier is one of the most amazing places on the planet! We want to go in a couple of years when the Barracuda can really put in enough miles to do some serious hiking 🙂
