The Nature Conservancy has closed the Madera Canyon Trail due to fire danger. The Madera Canyon Trail is a privately owned trail on The Nature Conservancy's Davis Mountain Preserve. The trail is normally open to the public year round, but considerable lack of rain has caused dangerous conditions on many trails in far west Texas. If significant rain does not occur it is likely the Preserve will close their open weekend scheduled for May 13-15th. We will notify you when

I'm a little late reporting this, but I just found out Big Bend National Park has closed the High Chisos Backcountry campsites due to extreme fire danger. dispersed (zone) camping in the Blue Creek and Lower Juniper Zones are closed as well.
